Daylight Savings... What do I do??

Daylight Savings can be a scary time for parents, particularly parents of young children who are not the best sleepers already. I get it.. Without a plan, Daylight Savings can wreak havoc on your child's routine. The good news is, it isn't as scary as you think, as long as you're prepared!!
If you're in Victoria, 2am on Sunday 2nd October, will magically become 3am, and just like that we've lost an hour. So how do you best prepare for Daylight Savings? I'm going to give you a day by day breakdown of how to face Daylight Savings head on, and beat it!
We'll be bringing your whole routine forward by 15 minutes every second day. By doing it every 2 days, we can move your routine by just 15 mins so Bub will barely notice, making it easy to adjust!
You need to remember to move your ENTIRE routine, not just bedtime. That means food and naps as well.
I've taken the guesswork out, all you need to do is follow the routine below;
Date | Time |
|---|---|
Sunday, 26th Sept (Normal schedule) | Bed- 7pm, Wake- 7am |
Monday, 27th Sept | Bed- 6.45pm, Wake- 6.45am |
Tuesday, 28th Sept | Bed- 6.45pm, Wake- 6.45am |
Wednesday, 29th Sept | Bed- 6.30pm, Wake- 6.30am |
Thursday, 30th Sept | Bed- 6.30pm, Wake- 6.30am |
Friday, 1st Oct | Bed- 6.15pm, Wake- 6.15am |
Saturday, 2nd Oct | Bed- 6.15pm, Wake- 6.15am |
Sunday, 3rd Oct (Clocks go forward 1 hour) | Bed- 7pm, Wake- 7am |
And there you go... just like that we're back on schedule! Maybe Daylight Savings isn't so bad after all!
